AURANGABAD: The International Confederation for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS) will conduct a six-day free plastic surgery camp for women from November 16.
The camp will be held for women with injuries due to domestic violence or social injustice such as burn, acid attacks, etc. The camp is organized as part of IPRAS’ ‘Women for Women’ programme.
The free camp is organized by the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India (APSI) president – Ashok Gupta in association with the Women for Women wing of IPRAS and city-based plastic surgeon Ramakant Bembde of Bembde Hospital which is located on Beed bypass road.
“The IPRAS team inspected the city hospitals and found Bembde Hospital suitably equipped and it was therefore selected as the surgery centre,” said Ramakant Bembde of Bembde Hospital.
Bembde Hospital, in Aurangabad is known for charity work for cleft lip and cleft palate patients under the international-level ‘Smile Train Project’.
“Generally IPRAS selects big cities for camps. This time they chose Aurangabad as medical and surgical services for women are not easily available in the surrounding villages,” Bembde said.
A team of doctors from Germany anfd Hungary comprising Neuhann, Kareela, Marita, Kufner, Levay will perform the surgeries. “It is expected that around 50 operations will be performed at the camp with two fully functional operation theatres,” said Bembde.
Patients will be initially screened and selected on Friday and Saturday at Bembde Hospital. Operations will start from Saturday for the selected female patients.
